Description
Betamethasone is a corticosteroid. Betamethasone treats skin problems that are accompanied by itching and swelling. The medicine reduces the actions of chemicals in the body that cause redness, inflammation and swelling. Betamethasone is available in cream, gel, and ointment forms.

Uses

    Betamethasone topical helps to reduce swelling, redness and itching caused by a number of conditions like allergic reactions,
     psoriasis and eczema.
    The dental paste form of betamethasone is used to treat mouth ulcers.

How to use ?
Use as directed by doctors or as directed on the label of the pack. It is for external use only and not to be taken by mouth. Do not use the ointment in larger amounts or for longer than advised. Clean the affected area before applying. Contact your doctor if your condition does not improve or gets worse after applying the medication.

Safety tips

    Do not use on a child without a doctor's advice as children are sensitive to the effects of betamethasone topical.
    It is advisable not to cover treated skin areas with a bandage or other covering.
    If the diaper area of a baby is treated , then do not use plastic pants or tight-fitting diapers.
    Covering the skin that is treated with betamethasone may lead to unwanted side effects because of absorbing more amount of
    the drug by your skin .
    Avoid using on your face, near your eyes, or on body areas where you have skin folds or thin skin.
    The medicine will not treat a bacterial, fungal, or viral skin infection.
    Do not use on sunburned, windburned or broken skin. Also avoid using in open wounds.
   
Before applying the medication, your doctor should know if you have any of these conditions:
        Acne caused by acne vulgaris
        Measles, tuberculosis, herpes, or chickenpox
        Burned or damaged skin
        Skin thinning
        Allergic reaction to betamethasone, corticosteroids, other medicines.
        Allergic reaction to foods, dyes, or preservatives
        Pregnant or breast-feeding
        Diabetes
        Glaucoma or cataracts

    Hives
    Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
    Difficulty breathing
    Blurred vision
    Mood changes
    Sleep problems
    Weight gain
    Feeling tired etc.
